“Dick and Christa Hughes don’t just play the blues, they are the blues”

Christa Hughes and her father Dick Hughes have recorded their first album together. “21st Century Blues” will be released nationally on February the 5th through ABC Music. It is a collection of jazz and blues songs from the 1920s and 30s including compositions by Bessie Smith, Memphis Slim and Jelly Roll Morton.

It has been years in the making and at last you can now see this terrific film by Brendan Young about Christa’s family. In particular Christa, her father, jazz pianist Dick Hughes, his father, foreign corespondent, author, and double agent Richard Hughes and his father, ventriloquist, also Richard Hughes.

This will air on ABC 1 on Thursday, February the 18th at 9:30pm. The Popcorn Taxi screening at Greater Union last year was a complete sell out. This film is not to be missed.
